Privacy Policy - Your Data Stays Yours

Last updated: March 2026

We are going to say something you do not hear often from a web tool: we genuinely do not want your data. Not because we are being nice — because we built the tool so that your data never comes near us in the first place.

Here is everything you need to know about how json-beautifier.org handles your privacy.

What Data We Collect

JSON Data You Enter

None. The JSON you paste, upload, or load via URL is processed entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. It is never transmitted to our servers. We have no database entry for your JSON, no log of what you typed, no copy of what you formatted. When you close the tab, it is gone.

Usage Analytics

We use minimal, privacy-focused analytics to understand how the tool is being used - things like which pages are visited and how many people use the tool in a given day. This data is aggregated and anonymous. It does not include any personally identifiable information and does not include the content of your JSON data.

Cookies

We use session cookies to maintain basic tool functionality (like remembering your indentation preference during a session). We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking cookies that follow you across the web.

What We Do Not Collect

The JSON you paste, type, or upload

  • Your IP address linked to your JSON data
  • Your name, email address, or any personal information
  • Your API keys, tokens, or any credentials that may appear in your JSON
  • Any behavioral tracking data (we do not use Facebook Pixel, Google Ads tracking, etc.)

How Your JSON Is Processed

Everything happens in your browser. When you click 'JSON Beautifier', the tool runs a JavaScript function locally on your device — the same way a desktop application would. The formatted output is generated on your machine and displayed back to you. Nothing is sent over the network for this process.

This is not a policy decision — it is a technical one. The architecture of the tool makes server-side data access impossible for the core formatting function.

Third-Party Services

We use a small number of trusted third-party services to keep the site running:

  • Hosting provider: For serving the website files (static pages, HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Analytics: For anonymous, aggregate traffic data — no personal data linked

None of these services receive or process the JSON data you enter into the tool.

Your Rights

Because we do not collect personal data linked to your usage, there is nothing to delete, access, or export. If you have used the tool, your data was never stored. If you have signed up for communications or submitted a contact form, you can request deletion of any associated data by emailing us through the Contact page.

Children's Privacy

json-beautifier.org is a professional developer tool and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children.

Changes to This Policy

If we make meaningful changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and, if the changes are significant, we will notify visitors prominently. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

Contact

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle data, you can reach us through the Contact page at json-beautifier.org/contact. We read and respond to every message.
